I would highly recommend others to use Sustainable Roofing Solutions. Kasra Kamooneh is the owner and general contractor. Kasra does not sub out his work to other roofing company. Kasra does not have a temporary foreman run his job. Kasra is on the job daily to insure the work is professional and installed correctly himself, and if any of his crew installs the work incorrectly, he would give his staff hell. Most roofers will not inform the owner of the additional damage to the roof, because it is not cost effective. They will cover it or tell the owner they took care of it. The problem will become the owners problem later. After all you hire a roofer and roofer by the trade only installs a roof. Kasra is a trained professional and is very detail oriented. He will tell you about the finding, and as the owner, you have the choice to fix it now or later. I do not believe anyone contractual can hold a roofer response for hidden structure condition. The new unforeseen work (dry rot, termite) take additional time. The roofer needs to negotiate with the owner, and the work may not be in the roofer trade. It will slow the construction time of the roof and extend his overhead cost. This will prevent him to finish your job and starting a new job. The owners do not normally want to know about additional cost to the project, because it requires the owner to dig up additional cash for the repair, and sometime it is just not budgeted. I can honestly say, the roof work Kasra has done will last my lifetime and the life of the roof with no problem, and I do not have to worry about how many years the warranty is good for. My past experience with warranty is that, they are only as good as the company is around and most roofer don’t stay around more than 5 years. Once you have a problem, the company can not be found or it is under a new name and the warranty is no good. If you want a worry free detailed roof, I recommend using Sustainable Roofing Solutions.

I highly recommend Sustainable Roofing Solutions for any roofing job. They do an excellent job, have reasonable prices, do the work they are contracted for, are highly efficient, and they clean up after completion. They even trimmed my trees back and replaced the gutters that needed to be replaced, while doing the roofing job. My roof was restored vs. re-roofed. Kasra the owner, said the roof could last another ten years. I had no idea about restoring roofs and it was his idea to do the less expensive alternative. I looked into energy efficient ideas for roofs and he already was roofing with energy in mind. If there were changes or unanticipated costs, Kasra was very clear about the additional costs. Sometimes a construction job has unforeseen and additional costs. Their company handled these additional costs in an up front and forthright manner. They finished the job on time and showed up to work daily to do the work that was contracted. He is very reliable. My roof still looks almost new and the job was done about four years ago! Kasra also showed up himself when it started to rain to make sure the roof and gutters weren’t leaking, as I had an addition and was worried about leaks when the addition joined the rest of the house. Again I would highly recommend Sustainable Roofing Solutions for your roofing needs.

To summarize my review, Kasra is very knowledgeable, experienced, and responsive. His company offers solutions to all exterior needs, not just roofing. And his architectural background offers valuable insights that you may not get from other contractors. Please read further for my full review.

I initially contacted Kasra for work on some skylights that needed replacing, as he was a nearby Velux installer. What impressed me most from the start was his responsiveness. I had had two general contractors come out and take measurements before and not call back. I had also emailed two other skylight specialists who never replied. I now understand that my skylights are a non-standard size, and comparatively large, which I can only assume was a likely deterrent for the other contractors. However, Kasra was able to find a local custom skylight manufacturer and worked with them to get the skylights replaced (Velux did not make curb-mounted skylights in the sizes I needed). He also advised on the different options available and made recommendations based on my situation and the layout of my home. I had been leaning towards glass skylights, but he actually recommended acrylic dome (the least expensive option). He said he normally pushes his clients towards glass, but in my situation, it was not so necessary. In the end, I went with the acrylic and I’m glad I did. It suits my needs and saved me a lot of money.

Furthermore, as he was taking measurements for my skylights, he noticed some cracks forming on my asphalt and gravel roof. He showed me the cracks and recommended performing a roof restoration as a preventative measure, which would be significantly less expensive than waiting for a leak and then performing a roof replacement. After he began work on the roof, lifting the gravel and power washing, some areas of wood rot became exposed near the drains and corners of my roof. Understanding of my situation, he suggested charging hourly for the work and was able to plan out the work done and the supplies needed, so as to get it done as efficiently and cost effectively as possible.

Throughout the process, he was very detailed and was sure I was aware of all the steps he was taking and the different options available. He’s very knowledgeable and can talk at lengths about various architectural and construction topics. We’ve discussed some of the projects I have lined up for the future, such as structural reinforcement and redesign of my front walkway and exterior painting of the house (both services that his company offers). We also discussed HVAC and radiant heat options in which he provided some helpful direction.

When Kasra came over for our initial roof evaluation, he found that our 80 year old tile roof was in surprisingly good shape. He suggested a power-washing for additional cost (and gave us the reasons for suggesting this) and replaced a few broken tiles, in addition to performing the tune-up that we paid for. He also, at our request, took a look at the flat (low-slope) part of our roof, which has had some leakage over the twelve years we’ve owned the house, had not been attended to in over six years, and had never actually been sealed (just painted.)

Kasra told us what he thought should be done and why, we talked about costs, and we agreed to his doing the job on the flat roof. His crew did the tile and the flat roof work in two separate work sessions spaced about a week apart; we were kept informed about scheduling before and during the work.

We found the entire experience of working with Sustainable Roofing Solutions to be quite easy. Kasra was punctual and professional, educated us well, and executed all contract requirements with great care. The final proof of his work can’t come till years from now of course (Kasra let us know up front that he couldn’t guarantee the sealant but that it was the best product he had found yet for sealing flat roofs), but we could not be more pleased with our interactions with this honest, forthright, and competent professional and with the work he has performed.

Kasra and his crew did an excellent restoration job on my tile roof. The crew worked hard, were careful, polite, and did a very good job of cleaning up.

They also put a new silicone coating on flat-roof addition to my house. This coating protects the roof should water pond on it. The preparation for the silicone coating was quite thorough and included a partial tear-off of the old roof coating, a leveling coating to help form a slope, and the application of a primer coat.

In addition, they made a protective cover for an overhanging beam on a balcony. They repaired the beam prior to attaching the cover.

This entire job was done on a time and materials basis. They did everything they agreed to do and did it well. The price was $10, 626.

I thought it was a good value for what was done and I feel the improved roofing system will endure well into the future. I recommend them.

Kasra at Sustainable Roofing Solutions was fantastic. We bought our house two years ago from a contractor who flipped the house. When doing the pre-buy inspection it was noted the roof had cheap repairs and may need to be replaced sooner than later. We decided to ask Kasra to conduct a more thorough inspection for our roof after watching him and his crews work on his own house across the street.

He provided us three different options for repair (limited repairs to full replacement) and fully explained the details including the prices of each effort. Kasra could have easily recommended a full roof replacement, after all that’s what we told we needed when buying the house. Rather he was able to identify what was needed to prolong the life of our current roof, save us from a larger expense, and help us from being wasteful (replacing and buying a full roof worth of materials).

Kasra repaired poorly constructed flashing, replaced drip edges, added flashing to locations where it should have been in the first place, replaced broken shingles, fixed loose gutters, removed and replaced poorly affixed mastic and painted (flashing & collars). His attention to detail is impeccable and a welcomed characteristic in a contractor.

After all the work was done he conducted a tour/review of the repairs, asked if we were satisfied with each portion and where appropriate educated us on how we can conduct future maintenance.

As a new homeowner, we absolutely felt we made the right decision by working with Kasra and Sustainable Roofing Solutions, not only are the completed repairs going to provide about another ten years to our roof but also the education he imparted empowered us for the future.

Almost rebuilt my old sick roof. In addition they painted for me my hard to reach roof windows while they were on the roof. Afterwards my roof will be set to go another ten years before total replacement.

They had to create a slope on the back end of my roof so that the water could drain off the roof whereas before the water accumulated like a small lake and could not drain away. They repaired my leak and turned up the rest of the roof for me so that a total replacement will not be needed until about ten years from now. My original roof was installed in 1980 and I thought I would need a brand new roof right now. Instead, they gave me another ten years of life with my old roof with they detailed roof turned up. They made numerous repairs.What impress me the most is how dedicated to details the owner was. The owner was there with his whole crew to make sure everything was perfect. It was clear that the owner loved working on roofs, and treated my roof as if it was family.

I would reuse this roofing company and think they name should be changed to “The Roof Doctor”. This roofer does good work because he loves what he does. The job they did for me and the hours they spent during it probably would easily have cost me twice as much with some one else.

The thing that separates SRS from the previous roofers is that Kasra, the owner of SRS, would explain everything to me daily on his job. He worked side by side with the roofers to insure everything was done correctly. He would regularly point out areas of concern on my roof. I could take care of it now, do it myself, hire them to do it or just catch it later. He also stated the pros and cons of delaying the work. My feeling is this is my house and I want to know how and when to take care of it.
The best suggestion he made was to install a skylight in the garage and a sun tunnel in the darkest area of the house. In hindsight, I should have gotten these two items done years ago and now I cannot live without having free solar lighting. If you want a roofer who can explain everything to you when necessary then Sustainable Roofing Solutions is who you want for your next roofing job.

I’m very happy with the result and the professionalism of the team. It cost them the whole afternoon. Kasra reviewed the work himself and made suggestions for improvement. My roof is now ready for solar panel installation.

I have a 30+ year old tile roof over 2400 sqft that was damaged quite a bit from walking around the old solar hot water panels. Very positive experience. Kasra is extremely straightforward and sincere in his communications. His assessment of our roof condition was honest and accurate, consistent with our inspector’s notes from when we purchased this house. He also volunteered opinions about the condition of the wood siding on our exterior south-facing wall (also a known issue), and suggested a smart and cost-effective strategy to address this issue over the next several years. We also discussed a longer-term strategy for maintaining our 18-year-old roof, which is mid-to-late in its lifespan. Kasra’s background in general contracting and architecture is evident in the informed and methodical manner in which he approaches his work.

The cost of our job was higher than his usual roof “tune-up” because of the number of missing shingles, the size and design of our roof, and the height of our house. Again, expectations were clearly set during the estimation process, with no surprises when he and his crew came the following week to do the work.

You can probably find a contractor to do this type of work more cheaply. However, I am willing to pay a moderate premium to work with someone who is honest, trustworthy, and performs quality work. Judged on price alone, Sustainable Roofing Solutions may rate a “B” for “Price”, but considering the entire package, they get an “A”. I would happily work with them again.

They did great! The Deal worked out well and they did everything I needed. I was really happy with how honest he was and that he didn’t try to upsell me. He even did some additional repairs for me. We were very happy with the inspection and repair job. Kasra of Sustainable Roofing was very prompt, professional and pleasant. He and a crew member inspected our combination “flat” and tile roof; they found some loose and cracked tiles and repaired those, including replacement of a missing tile (we had spares).

Kasra also let us know of additional services that Sustainable Roofing could provide, which included putting a silicone coating on our roof, installing skylights, as well as some more general services. He also took the time to give his opinion on a future project we have planned (well, maybe planned, LOL) which would involve tying in another area of roof. We really appreciated his input.

That service went okay and he came out 2 times. The first time he came out it was for an estimate and the second time he had to finish the work. There was a delay, due to traffic and he did not show up until about 3:30 to 4:00 pm. He finished the work that I wanted him to do. He inspected the roof and we had some flashing replaced. We did have to pay him extra for the additional work.

There was some confusion initially about whether the original “Big Deal” price for roof maintenance included a full inspection and report suitable for real estate escrow requirements (it didn’t). However, after a couple of discussions we settled on a plan that included reports and everything necessary for a superior roof maintenance package. Contractor was able to find the exact, matching tile to my great relief. I was unable to find it on the web and was very concerned; he seemed very knowledgable about his industry and profession. he promised to return and examine any issue that presented itself through the rainy season.

Since your roof has no underlayment system, some water from the high pressure washing came into the garage. That is the only portion we where not able to clean partly cause you where not around since the property is for rental. Also, since we are in roofing season and we often work late, My crew and I did arrive later than planned but also stayed late to finish all of the work. The roof is ready for a high performance coating system and some more love if it is in your budget. Well, to re-cap my previous commentary, it was very refreshing to have a person in whom you have confidence to provide professional services with the passion and pride that this contractor displayed. he paid attention to the minute details and made follow-up phone calls and even stopped in while in the neighborhood to be sure that i understood that he was going to be completing the roof work in two stages. I had not seriously thought that i would do that kind of curb appeal to the exterior this year but I am now seeking to arrange financing to do just that. after I purchased the original inspection and need assessment, the owner contacted me and scheduled and appointment. He was able to determine the type of roof access and to rule out difficult access fees by viewing my house on Google maps. after asking me some questions about the age and past maintenance history he went up on the roof. was very comfortable with his technical background and overall concept of what did and did not need to be done. i agreed with his step wise recommendations to do some work that he felt would improve the overall condition of the roof and valleys but a modest cost. he encouraged me to think about what was best for me in the long term in terms of resale value in case I wanted to sell. he showed me various upgrades which were impressive but not overly expensive. Since he has a back ground in architecture he was able to give global perspective on what works best for what i wanted to achieve. He offered to combine some much need deck repair with a total resurface/restoration of the roof with cutting edge materials, and complete exterior painting and trim as a package. the price was very reasonable. Since he is the owner, he was able to offer me this deal if i so chose to go that route. I told him i would think about that weather or not i sold the property. I am considering an equity loan and think the resale value will more than triple what the package would cost. He visited my house on several occasions and worked side by side with the workman to be sure that everything was done with the maintenance. He was very knowledgeable and had a passion for roofing and even showed me some models of homes using the materials that he would use.He takes a great deal of professional pride in his work and wants the customer to feel valued and respected; a rare commodity indeed.

They were professional, showed up when they said they would and completed the job in a timely manner. Kasra was very thorough in explaining exactly what they were doing and why. The roof which is made of aluminum shakes has several sections with both steep and somewhat flat pitches, to the fix dry rot they carefully took part of it apart, made the repairs and put it back together. I am confident they have solved my roof and skylight issues.

I have a flat torch-down roof in decent condition and was looking for a maintenance package to insure getting through the rainy season.

Really good experience working with Kasra and Sustainable Roofing Solutions. Over all, everything went well and I have no complaints.

As part of the roof tune up, it was discovered that channels around the skylights (3) to draw off rain water had not been done, so at his recommendation this was done for the skylights, chimney and roof vents. I was glad to have this work performed.

ughlyThe tar and gravel roof was over 25 years old an needed some attention. Again, at his recommendation all the gravel was removed and distributed neatly distributed to various places in my yard. After the roof was thoroughly cleaned, three different materials applied at different times, because each application required a specific time to dry, two to three weeks.

I also took this opportunity to have the decks power washed and Thompson Water Seal applied.
The front grape stake fence was also power washed. Before washing, some needed repairs were made. I was real happy with the fences new appearance.

Kasra could have easily recommended a full roof replacement, after all that?s what we told we needed when buying the house. Description of work:

Initially I signed up for inspection and minor repairs for the seals around several skylights. Kaira Kamooneh, the owner of the business, carried out this work properly, and also identified other issues that needed to be addressed on my roof and on two roofed ledges over first-floor windows. It was clear that these problems needed to be corrected, to avoid problems with water getting into the house, so I decided to go ahead with the larger project. Kasra spent more than two full days on this work, and carried out all the work himself. He stayed late both days in order to complete all the parts of the job. Kasra was extremely thorough and is clearly committed to doing high-quality work that will provide protection for years. He developed an approach that did not require a costly and time-consuming renovation, but is still much more than a temporary fix. I felt that Kasra was also able to provide me with some discounts and cost-saving measures while still being compensated fairly.

Last May there was a leak in the roof that allowed water into the attic and through the ceiling of a top floor bedroom. Kasta did the inspection within two days after I called him. Once he inspected the roof and proposed the placement of metal dams I agreed to proposal. He returned two days later and completed the work. He is a very professional roofer.

Description of work:
Kasra did a complete inspection of my 14 year old roof and placed metal dams above the six vents between the roof and attic. The dams will prevent water from entering the attic through the vents.

It went very well. Kas communicated with me before the project and listened to my input around specific things I wanted and didn’t want. He power washed my roof and all the walls of my home and then did stucco repair where needed. Repainting will come when a few more details are handled. Kas also communicated during the project and pointed out things he found as he cleaned and looked more closely at my home. He showed me his punch list for every day and did what he said he would do. He also did an excellent job cleaning around my home in preparation for accessing the windows and walls for cleaning. Many neighbors have commented my home has never looked better!

Description of work:
Provider power washed my entire home and roof. I have a clay tile roof and was having some issues with a small leak I couldn’t detect. Kas came and looked at my roof and located the probable source of the leak and fixed it. After it rained again he came by on his own time to check that his fix had worked. He power washed all of the walls on my home and pointed out areas where the stucco exterior needed repair. He also removed paint from all of my window trim and helped to remove dry rot that had begun in some of my window frames. I most likely wouldn’t have caught this on my own. Kas has a great eye for detail and understands what is most needed in order to have a long lasting home with no problems. He’s skilled at roofing and is well versed in stucco repair and the maintenance and some repair of windows. He offers solutions that are durable and not short term and more costly in the long term.
